Weds 7th Sept: i-D NOW exhibition
Yesterday I checked out the current i-D NOW exhibition which charts every single issue of i-D magazine to celebrate its 31st birthday. A copy of each cover is hung in chronological order along each wall of the Red Gallery with other associated artefacts dotted around. Its lush to be able to get up close to all the originals of these iconic images. I couldn't leave without picking up a giant poster and pin-badges from the giftshop - Im a sucker for merch!
The reason for my visit was to take part in the photoshoot of Craig Lawrence cataloguing his archive of dresses on his collaborators and muses. Throughout the day his family of friends pitched up in turn to try on one of his incredible garms and pose for the photographer Alistair Strong in the pop-up studio open for public viewing. Have a look at the site to see details of all the events in the next week including a myriad of music nights ..............
(all images my own apart from the last taken from the i-D online official Twitter)

Tues 6th Sept: Feral aka MC KINKY
FERAL aKa MC KINKY / LOVEBOX 2011 from LIZLTD on Vimeo.
From one lady who performed at Carvival to another - Feral aka MC KINKY. Here are photos of Feral from a festival performance earlier in the summer when she took to the main stage at Lovebox. You can watch a mini documentary reel which caught the day's atmosphere shot by LIZ LTD and also Feral's latest musical release with Joe & Will Ask (menswear designer William Richard Green's musical alias).
Feral is a new incarnation from a former moniker "MC Kinky" at the time of her demo called KINKY REGGAE, which she gave to Boy George when they met in a nightclub. Shortly after rapping on KIPSY (a track on George's HIGH HAT album), he signed her to MORE PROTEIN. This led to the appearance of the first E-Zee Posse single, EVERYTHING STARTS WITH AN 'E', which reached the Top 20 in the UK. Since spearheading the UK Dance and Rave scene from both the Underground and Mainstream, DJ-ing and MC-ing lead her to work with UK & European DJS such as Danny Rampling, Paul Okenfold, Pete Tong, Norman Cook.
After a residency in Ibiza at Manumission, Kinky returned to London to write the solo album Girl with a Halo under a new name, Feral. Most recently she has shown art films and performed in international galleries and museums............ written scores for the National Theatre and soundtracks for designer's shows at fashion week........... you may recognise this Louise Gray Smiley bomber jacket here styled by her good friend and co-conspirator Jeanette........for whom she performed at the block party which opened Jeanette's boutique. This was where I first saw Feral and couldn't believe that such an astonishingly powerful and righteous voice was emanating from a tiny dainty frame ........ bopping round in an entirely covered lace face mask. Ive never seen anything quite like this unique and quintessential London talent so be sure to check her out when she comes to a soundsystem near you.........
Thanks to Darrell Berry for the photos.

Mon 5th Sept: Jessie Ware at Carnival
Last week we took a day off to have a business trip to Notting Hill Carnival to see Jessie Ware sing on stage with Oneman at the Major Lazer soundsystem. Here she is looking beautiful in one of my rainbow origami hairpieces - perfect for the occassion. Here is also one of the photobooth pics of my skanking cohorts Ellar Dror, Kim Howells and CKOne "model of the moment" Aaron Frew.
To read more and watch clips of Jessie performing, head over to the Redbull site.
