Friday 7th October: Frieze Sculpture Park 2016

From dawn till dusk - Frieze Art Fair's free sculpture park in Regents Park, open to the public in daylight hours.  This year the selection has been curated by Clare Lilley from Yorkshire Sculpture Park including artists, top to bottom:  Eduardo Paolozzi, Huang Rui, Eddie Martinez, Claes Oldenburg, Jean Dubuffet and Conrad Shawcross.  Navigate the site with the official App in collaboration with The Art Fund.

Thursday 6th October: Stockholm Modern Art Museum

A trip to Stockholm and the INCREDIBLE Modern Art Museum which has a garden with Alexander Calder kinetic sculptures and Yayoi Kusama trees, an exclusive installation of Olafur Eliasson maquettes, a retrospective of Moki Cherry (Neneh Cherry's father) and an absolutely excellent permanent collection - I was in heaven!  I also jumped for joy when I found this rainbow painted subway station on the way!!!!  If you have the chance to visit the city I highly recommend a trip to this brilliant gallery!

Wednesday 5th October: Niki de Saint Phalle in Stockholm

Wednesday 5th October: Niki de Saint Phalle "Je Suis Une Vache Suisse"

Here is my second post of recent shows that I have loved about Niki de Saint Phalle.  This exhibition of smaller works was "Je Suis Une Vache Suisse" at the Omer Tiroche Contemporary Art gallery in London.

Tuesday 4th October: Paris - Le Comptoir General

On visiting Paris for the weekend we found ourselves in an enclave that was a recreation of The Congo - a club called Le Comptoir General.   It's absolutely incredible, or should I say Incroyable.  Every detail of the interior design is a dream for anyone interested in set design and the DRC............ which is me on both counts!  I've never been anywhere like this before, not even the Prada pop-up "The Double Club" designed by Carsten Holler in London a few years ago.  There is so much to look at with drawers to open and peer inside, arcade games to play and even this boat to climb up into the canopy of another hidden level.   I cant wait to go back again!

Monday 3rd October: Paris - "Observatory Of Light" by Daniel Buren at Fondation Louis Vuitton

"Observatory Of Light" by Daniel Buren - coloured panels as a temporary site specific installation at Frank Gehry's building for Fondation Louis Vuitton.  I can't believe that this cosmic structure could become even more incredible, but it has.  The multicoloured gels and stripes added to pattern each sail not only add a depth of hue when the sun shines thru but they also become like stain glass windows as shadows and silhouettes fall on the interior walls.  I feel so lucky to have visited Paris now at this time to see it.  No matter how long you look at it, each angle just gets better and better.  You could stay there all day!  (Plus the permanent commission of yellow lit mirrors by Olaf Eliasson)
