Saturday 19th October: 'Erebus' at Londonewcastle Project Space

A show in time for Frieze with one foot in the fashion world is "Erebus", an exhibition of new works by photography duo Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones. I fell in love with their fantastical magical way of shooting via epic portraits of Bjork and latterly Patrick Wolf, (for whom I made an aeroplane to wear for i-D Magazine).

For this film project, the pair have worked with James Lavelle on the soundtrack,  art direction by Robin Brown and costumes courtesy of Stevie Stewart (Bodymap).  The main collaboration is with choreographer Russell Maliphant to present a multimedia experience that draws influence from a range of disciplines, including the sculptures of Auguste Rodin, figures in greek mythology and the juxtaposition between classicism and surrealism.

The works revolve around the Greek God Erebus, who's name is often leant to an area of the underworld, and creates a stark interpretation of the darkest of realms through photography and a contemporary dance performance, which is documented in a 13 minute film.

See it at London Newcastle Project Space in Shoreditch TODAY!
