Here are just a few of the trainers in a new exhibition charting the history of the footwear in popular culture spanning six decades : Sneaking Into Fashion. Curator Tory Turk has pulled together rare and covetable kicks to demonstrate the progression from plimsolls to performance sports shoes to status symbol in streetstyle. One-off designs have been collated from fashion houses (Gaultier, Westwood), musicians (The Prodigy, Oasis) and even film costume wardrobes (Kill Bill) thru to the Nike Volts worn by double Olympic champion Mo Farrah at the 2012 Games contrasted with the pair worn by Roger Bannister when he ran the first under 4-minute mile in 1950. Hotstep it down to Covent Garden Piazza to see all 40 pairs on display until 28th October, 9am-7pm.
