Friday 22nd March: Kaffe Fassett - "A Life In Colour" at The Fashion & Textile Museum

‘Kaffe Fassett – A Life in Colour’ is a celebration of the work of one of the great practitioners of contemporary craft and features over 100 works displayed in a monochromatic installation designed by Sue Timney.  The exhibition at The Fashion & Textile Museum in Bermondsey includes multi-coloured 9ft wide knitted shawls, coats, throws, patchwork fabrics in quilts and hand painted original artwork. The show also features a ‘feeling’ wall that allows visitors to touch and literally get to grips with the textiles and their construction. The pieces chart his childhood in the creative community of Big Sur (California) to his career as a painter,  knitwear and textile designer in London from the 1960s to the present day.  As a contemporary of Zandra Rhodes it's the perfect place to house his retrospective in the gallery of her orange and pink painted museum.  Here are my photos from last evening's private view with just one snap of some of the gloriously attired guests / friends of Kaffe!
