Thurs 21st July: NOKI NHS at LOVEBOX

For the second year running NOKI held a fashion show on the main stage of LOVEBOX music festival. Here are snaps from the dressing backstage with Kim Howells styling team turning girls into walking and talking NOKI warriors. I actually quite liked the look of blue plastic carrier bags around their heels for rain protection - very "Withnail & I". Also loved the cap collaboration with Piers Atkinson and Alun Davies transforming a quoter of New Era hats for an ongoing NHS staple accessory. ........... here is designer JJ with his NHS scarf, Jonny Woo (who MC'd the soundtrack) Saskia with the running order and Rosy in charge of getting the models up on stage in time..........
Congrats everyone involved ........... looking forward to next year already!

Tues 19th July: Patternity for Restaurants in Residence

Whilst combing the muddy quarters of the green fields to find a feast at Glastonbury Festival, Anna and are were chewing the fat about what projects Patternity were working on back in London. She told me about collaborating with Bistrotheque on artwork for a pop-up restaurant in a disused 80's tower block in the city. The theme of the 4 week jaunt is the year 1988 to fit to the space being transformed for this period ......... taking it back to its original and heady hey dey of London in the 1980's. From the sound of their colour palette inspired by prawn cocktails, I was imagining printed pastel pink napkins with green napkin rings ....... or perhaps the napkins folded into a jazzy fan. But no, the girls have actually created a series of 4 limited prints drawing on the graphics of the 80s and the monochrome structures of the Canary Wharf building itself. Here are snaps from their first recce of the site to source the architectural shapes to be translated into the works. This is the perfect commission for a business that's brand identity is transforming mundane patterns of everyday surfaces into exquisite and functional design.
The fine food and fun times from Bistrotheque is the final installment of the series which has been in the hands of "A Little Of What You Fancy", "The Clove Club" and "Shacklewell Nights" in the previous weeks. To book a ticket for a speed boat ride to a night of Mumm Champagne, pavlova and Patternity prints ........ head to 88*

Tues 19th July: LOVEBOX

On Sunday I went to Lovebox festival to help out the NOKI team on his fashion show (more deats to follow) and had a lovely day catching up with lots of people I rarely see because we are usually all busy bees in our own separate studio domains. Its a nice chance to discover new musicians (one of my favourite things!)and thanks to Alun for introducing me to Simone Jones who you can check out here in a little docu introduction about her writing and influences. Amongst the new talent at the festival were also the establishment who have influenced us all ......... including Debbie Harry which was extremely exciting....... even for George Michael who was overheard telling her that before he discovered boys, she was his first crush ......... (er, that is information procured from a friend eves-dropping - not phone hacking)
The best act of the day was Beth Ditto who is one of the generation's greatest talents and super human personalities ......... which is why Debbie Harry selected Gossip in her Desert Island Discs which is a must-hear for anyone that missed it ......... she also chose Peaches ....... another artist representing at Lovebox with Simone .......... full circle, full stop.
