Four years ago I discovered Kyle Bean's genius "Mobile Evolution" cardboard Russian Doll style stacking phone sculptures illustrating the design lineage of the device across the sizes. It was part of his degree show at Brighton University and has now been dusted off and given a re-see as part of his latest exhibition at Colette in Paris. "Materials & Messages" is a mini retrospective of Kyle's most playful work from his archive spanning 3D pieces, framed prints and collaborations with still life photographers. Hanging on the wall you can see his matchstick "Stick Insects" and Zone One of the London Underground map made of drinking straws. All of these projects are catalogued over on Blink who manage his commissions and also helped him with this show. The other team on board are Stanley James Press who produced a hand made swatch-style booklet which accompanies the exhibition. Kyle's work will be on display in the boutique throughout the summer, ending on August 31st.
