Friday 14th March: Stephen Doherty AW14 at Somerset House

Last evening Stephen Doherty used a new venue within the vaults of Somerset House called "The Deadhouse" to show his first and AW14 collection.  Alongside the beautifully painted leather garments were installations in which his illustration work was hung.  The multi-media mix of one-off mark-marking and print design in the presentation was a perfect palette to refresh the senses after a month of back to back fashion weeks.  His practise has shifted up a gear by translating his signature free drawing style into surface pattern and applied from canvas to a wearable piece of art!  I haven't seen anything else like this before and look forward to seeing what follows!

Thursday 13th March: Postcards from Austin- Anushka @ SXSW

For the last few years I have featured SXSW via photo diaries of London acts attending the American music festival.  Last year Seye played with The Very Best which made up pages of picture postcards (follow his current antics from SXSW with Damon Albarn's "Heavy Seas" here).   This year, the live coverage from Texas comes courtesy of Victoria Port of Brownswood's bass music duo Anushka.   Listen to the new track "World In A Room" over  on Giles Peterson's site here which they premiered at their performance in Austin yesterday.

Monday March 10th: International Women's Day Run - London

Saturday was International Women's Day and to mark the occasion a couple of ladies from RunDemCrew organised a run around landmarks of London.  Muireann Carey-Campbell and Elle Hankinson devised this event for our own city but their idea went viral and inspired international running groups to do the same!  Check out the Tumblr to see the feed of images from all 37 countries who took part across the globe!!  Here are a few pics of our journey from Green Park via a safari of Blue plaque houses accredited to power ladies from the past ......... ending at original suffragette founder Emmeline Pankhurst's place in Holland Park.
