Saturday 24th May: University Of Westminster - Philli Wood
The crescendo to The University of Westminster graduate fashion show on Thursday evening was this oversize, cable knit Trompe l'oeil printed collection by Philli Wood. The candy pink and coral orange palette was pop'n'punchy and the duvet dimension wide wadded silhouettes were so much fun! Screen printed patterned tights continued the quilted textile to the floor, topped off with Neon plastic wedges. You can head over to the school's site to look at her portfolio to follow the sample development and gorgeous mood boards that influence this final slick selection - here.

Weds 23rd May: "BLUMENFELD STUDIO" at Somerset House
Whilst JCrew were celebrating cashmere with the rainbow fountains of St. Martins in Kings Cross, fountains were also blazing across town at Somerset House for the private view of "Blumenfeld Studio: New York, 1941–1960". Thanks to Charlie Hocking for these photos that give an indication of what to expect from the 100 colour photos, and also a look at the graphics layout he has worked on for the show with Teo Connor Studio. The free exhibition focuses on the little-known history of the Berliner's photography studio at 222 Central Park in New York during the 40's - 60's. Alongside prints are original works in the fashion magazines of the time such as about the capital's fashion scene you can join tours every Thursday which explain the story behind the images .......

Weds 22nd May: COLOUR AND CULTURE - Cosmetics à La Carte
Last evening was the private view for a new beauty exhibition entitled "Colour and Culture" curated by Ryan Lanji, charting the 40 year history of Cosmetics à La Carte. The timeline is divided into four decade sections via a special interior design by Anna Lomax which has transformed the gallery specifically for the show. Within the layout are sculptures by Alex Noble including these mannequin faces decorated with pearls and glitter or hand painted like this beautiful spectrum butterfly. Illustrations decorate the walls and tear sheets of archive beauty editorials are pinned to mosaic posts. The most ingenious part of the planning is the polka-dot lipstick logo rendered on the entrance wall with pink powder compacts set into carved holes.
COLOUR AND CULTURE is a celebration of the brand's founders Lynne Sanders and Christina Stewart who set up Cosmetics à La Carte with the manifesto “Find your look and be fabulous”. Historically musicians Grace Jones and Debbie Harry have put this mantra into motion wearing bespoke products designed by Lynne Sanders at their Battersea laboratory in London. Princess Diana even ordered the first nude lipstick in the 1980's. All of these landmark moments in makeup are mapped out and on show at the Gallery Redchurch St in East London from May 21st -26th.
