Daniel Buren's "PILE UP: High Reliefs. Situated Works" at Lisson Gallery coincides with the installation commissioned by TFL at Tottenham Court Road which is the most cosmic thing to encounter when you're coming up the escalator! I absolutely LOVE Daniel Buren's aesthetic with his signature vertical stripes and block colours, so this show was a dream. The sculptures of powder-coated aluminium triangular prisms and mirrors distort the gallery's walls in a new site-specific configuration for the Lisson Gallery, where he has been exhibiting since the 1970's!
"Observatory Of Light" by Daniel Buren - coloured panels as a temporary site specific installation at Frank Gehry's building for Fondation Louis Vuitton. I can't believe that this cosmic structure could become even more incredible, but it has. The multicoloured gels and stripes added to pattern each sail not only add a depth of hue when the sun shines thru but they also become like stain glass windows as shadows and silhouettes fall on the interior walls. I feel so lucky to have visited Paris now at this time to see it. No matter how long you look at it, each angle just gets better and better. You could stay there all day!
