Sat Oct 23rd: Fred Butler S/S 11 "Phosphorescent Omni-Present"

Here is a taster of my new collection which I showed at Cube Press Day on Thursday. These are key pieces from the S/S 11 range which we will be using to make another cosmic film with Elisha Smith-Leverock and Kim Howells (see Sunshowers from A/W). For the second season Rosy Nicholas has collaborated with me to contribute a few looks, of which these jagged faceted ear wings are her work. Watch this space for more details to follow.........

Friday 22nd Oct: Lulu and Co at Harvey Nichols c/o of Fiona Leahy

To mark the 10th year of Lulu Kennedy's philanthropic Fashion East enterprise, Lulu launched "Lulu & Co." - a capsule collection of 10 dresses by previous Fashion East recipiants. The collective included iconic designs reworked by Jonathan Saunders, Marios Schwab, Roksanda Ilincic, Richard Nicoll, House of Holland, Gareth Pugh, Meadham Kirchhoff, House of Jazz, Holly Fulton and Louise Gray.

In celebration, the top floor of Harvey Nichols was transformed into Fiona Leahy's luxe take on a Mexican party slash Disco Mexicana, where everything was decedantly covered in gold! Here are Kila's snaps of making pinatas at the studio and hanging disco balls in the store.

Guests were treated to heart shaped churros with caramel and hundreds 'n' thousands from Millis Catering, in addition to the culinary delights of Bistrotheque, served from the restaurant’s corrugated beach hut ‘Bistrotaco’, naturally.

Fri 22nd Oct: Craig Lawrence launch at Machine A

CRAIG LAWRENCE LAUNCH @ MACHINE A BY ZAIBA JABBAR from zaiba jabbar on Vimeo.

Although Craig's knitwear is stocked internationally, it has only just been picked up by a boutique in London and to celebrate the union, Machine A hosted a launch for the line. Soho's renegade outfitters emptied the store and left the interior and windows entirely to Craig's own devices. The accessories that Craig has knitted exclusively for the store hung inbetween photographic prints of his work from editorial shoots. A few of these included Morgan O'Donovans black/white images taken only a day earlier for an article on Dazed.
Craig's concept for the front of house had a VIP party in the window for the opening night with James hijacking guests and dragging them in for the ride. The glass box filled with jumping revellers, a wind machine and the gold foil dresses looked like the closest thing to Richard OBrien's crystal maze I have ever seen. Check out Zaiba Jabbar's film from the night to see a slice of the action............
As Craig is a thoroughly nice chap, this was reflected in the turn out which was a rammed affair including Sarah Mower, Charlie Le Mindu, Namalee Bolle, Kim Howells, Piers Atkinson, Anna Trevelyan, Alex Noble, Andre J, Josh Caffe, Hermione De Paula and dj's Alex Carle, Anna Patterinity and TE3TH.

Wed 20th Oct: Craig Lawrence setting up at Machine A

Wed 20th Oct: Andy Macgregor for Supermarket Sarah

Keep your eye on Supermarket Sarah with regular returns to her shop now that she has branched out to site specific walls. The occasional destination appeared in conjunction with projects such as Selfridges or Tatty Devine but artists curated walls were still shot at the Supermarket Sarah HQ. As the enterprise has sped off with phenomenal success, Sarah is now casting her net further into the sea of creatives and handing over the technical bit. This means that artists can set up their installation wherever they want and upload the entries in the same formula.
The latest name to take residence on the home page is set designer/illustrator Andy Macgregor who shot his wall in his new studio in Highbury. There are all the incredible paper accessories that he made as props with expert precision for an editorial last year. There is a Bikkemberg wellington, Prada boot, Lanvin sandal and Bottega Veneta bag.......... see the whole selection here. There is also the crafty cheeky cardboard squirrel, patchwork kite, still life painting of a pineapple and 2 cosmic owls. Its a mixed bunch of beautiful artworks and collected brik-a-brak and a fun selection to scroll thru............. GO Supermarket Sarah!

Wed 20th Oct: Phosphorescent Omni-Present

Tues 19th Oct: Laurie Storey

Here is the work space of artist Laurie Storey which I discovered by accident on stealing a heater with Rosy Nicholas at her new studio block run by Platform magazine. Laurie has acquired an organ in the move which was left outside with a note on "Free To A Good Homo". We are assuming it was perhaps written by someone whose first language may not be English or perhaps dyslexic??! Whatever the reason............ the colour of the keys are brilliant - just like Laurie's paintings which he is working on for an exhibition of new work to be shown later this month - 29-31 November- Madame Lillies, Stoke Newington. (Private View Thursday the 28th 6-9pm.)

Laurie also co-runs "Vulpes Vulpes" gallery in Clapton which has an opening this weekend of artist Lucas Pottier ..........The London Project

Mon 18th Oct: Lily Vanilli at Harrods Food Hall

Lily Vanilli
has taken her artisan bespoke baking out of her kitchen and into the food hall at Harrods with her own concession destination! Lily is moonlighting amongst the confectionery at the department store serving up her very own, lovingly hand crafted cupcakes. I'm guessing all you chocoholics were aware that it was "Chocolate Week" last week and for the event Lily devised a range of choc-centric treats such as Chocolate Cream Cheese Red Velvet with Strawberry, White Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate with Fresh Fruit - as seen her in her snaps from a batch of the beauties! However the menu is evolving with Halloween favours entering the mix later in the month between 24th-31st. These weird and wonderful inventions can be found in her new book "A Zombie ate my cupcake" so you can even have a go yourself! If you're too squeamish to have a stab at the bloody heart or mutant ears, there are mini burger cupcakes or the classic rainbow marble recipe which we originally bonded over. I'm going to have a crack at something for Halloween, but before then I would love to get over to Harrods to visit Lily in residence! You can find out more on her own blog here.
