Sat Jan 15th Jan: Jiggery Pokery Studio visit
The colonisation of the local E8 creative community has acquired a new addition via the shared studio of Jiggery Pokery and friends. Eight artists have taken over an open plan space filled with materials and tools of their various trades (check out Jamie Brown). Nestling and glistening in the corner are the girls behind set design wizardry Jiggery Pokery. Anna Lomax and Lauren Davies met whilst studying the BA Illustration course at Brighton Uni and joined forces to invent the 'life size illustration' team 'Jiggery Pokery'.
I have featured the work on the blog previously but this was my first opportunity to have a literal poke around their creative hub and hive of activity. Its familiar territory with draws full of multi-colour party treats and accumulation of sprays and paints. .......... and an impressive array of mannequin heads snapped up from a weave shop closing down round the corner!
Jiggery Pokery are the current occupants of another space........... albeit virtual. Their props are the most recent wares for sale on the front page of Supermarket Sarah from where I have lifted this image of Lauren modeling their "Heavy Pencil Head Dress". Have a look at all the projects that the pieces have come from at their site (They have applied their unique style to everything from window displays, music videos, editorial shoots, promotional campaigns, studio exhibitions, interior design....... clients such as Beck’s, Courvoisier, The Independent, Nike, Orange, SHOWstudio, Vauxhall and YCN, Dazed & Confused). Keep an eye (a multi-colour cardboard eye!) out for their upcoming work including new projects with Annie Collinge who they shot this Creative Review cover with....... BLOG.

Thurs 13th Jan: Crane TV
Just incase Crane TV might not be on your radar - take this as an important "one to watch" recommendation. Its a site jam packed with documentaries focusing on designers, artists, musicians, lifestyle & travel. Ive pulled out some of my recent faves to give you an edited collection to get going.............. but head over to the site to get lost in the complete archive of footage from studios to catwalk and back. To add to a theme of blogger profiles, the team visited my workshop recently and the clip went live yesterday which Ive included too........... a virtual tour around the desk that I sit at to type this every day..............

Weds 12th Jan: CocknbullKid by Elisha Smith Leverock
ATTENTION *DREAM TEAM TIME*
Here is a sneak peak from the set of TheCockNBullKid's upcoming single release shot by my favourite promo director Elisha Smith-Leverock. Its a dream team as I'm a massive fan of Anita Blay's music in the first place and as an extra bonus my muse ROWDY SUPERST*R was on the tools for the styling. I was more than chuffed to be asked to contribute some accessories for the Frida Kahlo inspired treatment when it was first conceived back in the summer. Finally the plans have come to fruition with 6 mini versions of Anita being dressed head to toe in monochromatic looks. I want one!!!!! They are just too cute!
The footage is now in edit so I'll be letting you know when the final version is released............. check in to CockNBullKid's site to find out new live dates announced today.............. and Elisha's site and blog to research her latest work including Pixie Lott's new single "Can't Make This Over".

Tues Jan 11th: Private View
When I was writing up Simone Rocha's Selfridges window display inspired by Francis Bacon's studio I dug out my "Private View" book. Its a beautiful collection of Snowdon's photographs of the British art scene in one of its more exciting times. Bacon, Freud, Moore, Hepworth, Heron, Nicholson, Kitaj, Vaughan, Sutherland, Hockney, Hitchens, Pasmore, Frink, Chadwick, etc, etc. Several years in the making during the 1960's, it gives a real sense of the processes and personalities behind the artworks. Delving into the paint pots and paraphernalia of studios plus portraits of the inhabitants - its a bit like a blueprint for The Selby. What a fantastic title too - Private View!
I particularly love the pages dedicated to Peter Blake since seeing his collection recently at The Museum of Everything.
I picked up my copy from a 2nd book shop a few years ago but Ive had a look on line and it seems easy to find............... I recommend snapping up a copy! Its as much an inspiring interiors album as it is an art monograph.
Tues Jan 11th: Neivz
My favourite perspex jewellery NEIVZ is now being sported by Nicki Minaj ............ what a perfect colour combo! Ive only just found out that the designer Steven Shein also makes sculpture which is now on my dream wish list!!!!!! But you don't need a large piece of art when a little accessory doubles up as a cosmic ornament anyway!
Here is a snap of my very first bracelet which Rosy gave me last year from Lazy Oaf and new pics from the Patternity website which has uploaded a Prism story today. (Buy my Dodecadhedron Necklace here and my Caterpillar Necklace here)
Tues Jan 11th: Gemma Cairney on Radio 1XTRA
To celebrate the first week of her new solo show on Radio 1XTRA, Gemma Cairney has borrowed the 2011 afro comb to wear for the occasion. Loving her rainbow top! Each day she is going add something else into her hair - today is one of my iridescent space clips. Check out the facebook page to follow her show and find out more.........

Mon 10th Jan: Supermarket Sarah officially in store at Selfridges!
On another Selfridges tip............ Supermarket Sarah who is now well acquainted with nocturnal installs at the store has just set up her first official concession! At 5a.m this morning my phone pinged with this image of her finally finished. The theme of her first wall is red for Valentines day as you can see with these heart shaped sunnies! Her online shop is now a fully tactile experience ready for you to get involved and handle the products. Have a look at one of the Sushi USB's in the new set up!
Supermarket Sarah at Selfridges will be opening this morning so get snooping.............
Sun 9th Jan: Gauguin - Maker of Myth
Its the final week to see Gauguin at The Tate Modern ............ we found out that its open till 10pm on a Sunday?! So get down to the river this evening before another week starts and its too late................
I have a feeling the collections at LFW next month may have some colour palettes influenced by the beautiful hues of his paintings. Its not just all about the iconic Haitian ladies though. There are early wood block prints and wood sculptures. Here is his wooden paint box which i fell in love with for its carving detail ......... infact most of the paintings are in beautiful chunky frames which is really refreshing to the regular gold gilt. Some of them are from private collections ........ really wish I had one of these on my walls............ but my Tretchikoff will do for now!
