Thursday 15th October: Millie Brown's "Rainbow Body" at Gazelli Art House

Millie Brown is back in town this week to take part in the Frieze week of events with her UK debut at Gazelli with a site-specific performance installation.  Her rainbow theme continues with this new work using crystals acting as prisms to cast spectrum reflections from her ceiling suspension.  She is in situ for 4 hour stints for 4 days at the gallery on Dover Street to be viewed from either outside on the street or up close.  Her frame hangs in amongst the parallel show inside the space "Let there be light, revisited" which highlights pioneers of the 60's/70's Light & Space movement.   I was lucky enough to be treated to dinner at Bistrotheque on Monday to celebrate both the event and her birthday. Apparently it's standard practise in the art-world to hold a dinner party as a private view ...... I now realise which industry I should have gone into!!!!!!!  Thanks for the taster Millie!

Thursday 15th Oct: Andrew Logan's 70th Birthday Masked Ball

Happy Birthday Andrew Logan who celebrated his 70th with a Masked Ball party in a grand church, now converted into 291 Gallery.  The artist (who like me) wears top-to-toe one colour, invited his guests to come dressed in their favourite colour.  He spent the night sneaking off to slip out of one hue into another to complete the whole spectrum of looks before the stroke of midnight when he appeared as a complete rainbow.  LEGEND.  

Here he is cutting his cake, still wearing his own mosaic mirror mask.  And here I am in my neon yellow frog guise with Kit Miles and Kitty Joseph.

Tuesday 13th October: Rainbow Ice-cream Cone Cup Cakes

Happy Birthday Naomi (Survival Techniques) - I took my spectrum baking to another level with making it into ice-cream cones!  It worked!

Friday 9th October: "Liberty In Fashion" at The Fashion Textile Museum

"Liberty in Fashion" , the new exhibition at The Fashion Textile Museum celebrates the 140th anniversary of the London Institution.  From Orientalism and Aesthetic dress in the 19th century, through Art Nouveau and Art Deco in the early 20th century, and the revival of all of these styles since the 1950s.  Not only is this a typically beautiful show brimming with pieces you've never seen before, but its the upstairs room that particularly excited me.  "The Art of Pattern: Susan Collier and Sarah Campbell for Liberty 1961 -77" has all the ephemera from the background of the print process.  I LOVE this kind of thing for the chance to see sketchbooks, scrapbooks, tests, prototypes......... all the glorious workings of a cosmic mind in colour.  Its absolutely beautiful and a great acknowledgment of the fundamental creativity in devising shape, space and hue by hand.  These repeats were formulated by piecing together tessellation's without any CAD and crazily cosmic as a result.  Go and see for yourself and look up the full list of events and classes that are running to coincide.

Weds 30th Sept: RAPHA + LIBERTY

For the last day of fashion week I added a new colour to my spectrum wardrobe - this pale duck egg blue / airforce aqua.  It's a collaboration between Rapha and Liberty's Art print archive which is a first for a performance sportswear brand.  Their graphic aesthetic has brought about a novel selection from the floral archetype of Liberty's heritage series.  The 1930's optical dot pattern begins a two season partnership between the two British brands.  The complete range carries across the active wear to the accessories and city line.  I wore the whole look which fortuitously matched the colour scheme for fashion week, with the BFC's own choice of turquoise.  The new LFW venue on Brewer Street was also only a few doors down from Rapha's London Cycle Club where the line launched to coincide.  It's available at their other international stores and Liberty with a window installation and two bikes built from the pattern paintwork.  I'm mega chuffed with the Musette bag which has upgraded my usual backpack for a more fluid messenger chic!

Monday 28th September: Louis Vuitton Series 3 Exhibition

If you look closely at the top image of the polyhedra you can just about see little people underneath, like the size of ants in comparison to this giant sculpture.  It is one part of the vast Louis Vuitton exhibition now on in London till mid October.  Situated in an old office block a few doors down from Somerset House on The Strand, the space is totally unrecognisable to the raw empty shell from before.  The luxury company have replicated the epic proportions of their Parisian Foundation art gallery for a temporary taste of their brand in Britain.  The art trail around the floors includes immersive sets, a life-size runway, a live workshop with craftsman working on bags, light-shows and projections.  It's totally free to the public, in exchange for your details!  Head over to the site to sign up for an allotted time slot or simply turn up at the door.
