Sun 30th Oct: Lily Vanilli's Bakery on Halloween

Since I first featured Lily Vanilli on the blog and interviewed her about how her cake enterprise came about, her success has been rising as high as her heavenly sough dough. From making cupcakes for friends commissions out of her own kitchen to now holding court at her very own bakery HQ. Nestled in a courtyard of London's Columbia Rd flower market, Lily has a steel topped kitchen which transforms with wood fittings to open the doors on a Sunday as a cafe. The counter is a feast for the eyes with her trademark decorated cakes and now complimented with a full range of savoury snacks including quiche, sausage rolls, pizza and soup. This weekend Halloween has taken over the weekly switch of special treats with red velvet bleeding heart cupcakes, bones meringues and absinthe truffles. Her first cookery book "A Zombie Ate My Cupcake" has been turned into a temporary exhibition with illustrations by Paul Parker. I can't think of a better spot to park yourself on a Sunday to sip on a coffee and crunch your way thru a piece of pumpkin pie in the hustle and bustle of Lily's living dream ............

The Lily Vanilli Bakery open every Sunday 8:30am - 4pm
6 The Courtyard, Ezra St. London E2 7RG
