Friday 22nd June: Maarten van der Horst for G-Shock

You can't open a magazine or browser at the moment without being confronted by totally tropical prints for this summer season.  The trend initially instigated by Maarten Van Der Horst has found him in good stead for selling both his mainline collection plus additional special projects. So far this year he has designed a window scheme and limited edition pieces for Selfridges "Bright Young Things", put together a capsule collection for Top Shop and now a collaboration watch for G-Shock.  To celebrate their 30th birthday the brand have teamed up with Lulu Kennedy's Fashion East initiative by inviting both Maarten and Sibling to apply their trademark prints to the time-piece.  Here is Maarten with his Hawaiian design and his regular muse Madeleine Ostlie wearing a new MVH pink t-shirt as shown last week at his menswear installation (see top photo).  The watches are now available after last evening's launch, so head down to the Fashion East HQ local branch in the Truman Brewery to see both the jazzy watches and matching floor!

Thurs 21st June: Lacoste, Brompton Road

Last evening I went West to check out the opening of the new Lacoste flagship store on Brompton Road, currently their largest premises to date.  The classic crocodile has taken on an Olympic theme with the international flags - some you can see in the background of my photobooth picture.  The shop was decked out in a French vibe with a pop-up creperie, bon-bon sweet section, mini quail egg Croque Madames and a performance by Singtank - the band of Josephine De La Baume.  Here are dj's Alice Charity Goddard and Lotte Andersen looking lovely wearing some of the new Lacoste styles by creative director Oliveira Baptista. I myself fell for the L!VE range of pop colours actually aimed at the younger market but I wouldn't mind one of these jazzy print versions of the polo!  On the Olympic / Euro sportswear tip - check out LACOSTE LAB to see the label's new branch into design products such as bikes, surfboards, skis, and even footballs!
