Friday 26th October: VOTE for Jason Evans in The Grange Prize

Jason Evans is currently nominated for The Grange Prize, pitted against three other photographers in an exhibition at Canada House which each year partners with another country to select artists.  The prize is $30,000 so there's only one thing to do and  VOTE for this don - its the final few days !  And remember to visit TheDailyNice after, and every day there after.
(Snaps from a drinks reception with the artists last evening showing Jason's Photography for Sculpture and one of my favourite spectrum spot works from Fourtet's  "There is Love In You" .)
Voting closes Tuesday, October 30 at 11:59 pm

Friday 26th October: Trojan, Works on Paper at The ICA

The ICA are fantastic at continuing the legacy of Leigh Bowery for future generations to witness his work and world with reoccurring exhibitions and events ( Sunshine: One Day Tribute to Leigh Bowery at The ICA ).  Just at the moment there is a dedicated space exhibiting the artwork of his friend and muse Trojan.   One of the walls has been papered with Star Trek pattern mimicking their original flat interior which became the backdrop for outffit snapshots which are also on display via photo albums leant by John Maybury and Sue Tilley.  It is really incredible that these examples are from a body of work all produced before his death, aged just 20 - for this reason I have also included a clip of Michael Clark's "Hail The New Puritans" for which he designed the set.

Weds 24th October: THE BOTS ON TOUR ACROSS EUROPE by Dan Wilton

Here is a little teaser of the latest project from photographer Dan Wilton who has turned the results of a spell on tour round Europe with The Bots into a printed zine.  The band comprise of two teenage brothers (Mikaiah, 19, and Anaiah, 15) from California with a penchant for tie dye which features from Dan's documentary photos of their plimsolls thru to the actual physical canvas case sewn to package each zine.  Tomorrow evening Dan will be turning over a Redchurch Street Gallery into a launch for the edition with the duo dj-ing whilst they are in London.  The band have been in the UK this summer as part of Damon Albarn's Africa Express and currently on their own circuit of the countries cities, playing Camden's Barfly next Tuesday.  If you're in town come down to the event tomorrow to pick up your own hand-dyed (see film below) and pink thread bound book - you can see a range of covers in my snap above and a scan of my own copy.  (All other photography Dan's images from the project - see here)
