"Pelicans Black" the monochrome sister-store to "Pelicans & Parrots" has had an intervention of illustration across the walls with a Posca pen in the hand of new London resident Leyman Lahcine. The Parisian artist and menswear designer has arrived in the capital via New York and made his mark-making debut at Chuko's East End curiosity shop. Leyman's surreal and Lear story-telling style, weaves in and out of the artifacts on display, connecting dashes and dots from the window, across the ceiling to a wall of framed works. The annotated anatomically sketched show entitled "Dancing With A Madman" is a teaser to the type of fun that can be had in the secret Rum Shop bar concealed in the basement. After the private view on thursday evening the party continued thru the Mr.Ben changing room door, down the stairs to a set of Paloma Faith spinning tunes and celebrating her new album release from the previous week. So fire up your MP3 player with Paloma's "A Perfect Contradiction" and head to Hackney to discover the dotted discombobulated characters of "Dancing With A Madman". ........... open till April 3rd.
