Sat 1 March: Final Fantasy

Last night I went over the road to the Kentish Town Forum to see Owen Pallett perform at a night he curated with a line up of other acts. Whilst he performed by layering loops of sounds from his violin, there was a fantastic live animation going on in the background. I eyed up the OHP before the performance with my geeky appreciation for these dinosaur pieces of equipment (of which we have 3 in our studio). I have never seen one used in this way before! As the sounds layered up, the animator layered up carefully cut imagery that would connect to become whole stories and moved with her hands. It was such an endearing way to illustrate songs on stage and beats any VJ that I have seen. (I have stolen this photo from flickr and cannot take credit it for it......its by John Gleeson)

Sat 1 March: Popsicle hairpins

Here is another picture from the current Dazed & Confused where Karen Langley used a selection of my archive accessories for an article on a new Mac range by the graffitti artist Fafi . The other image is the original portrait I took when I first made the popsicle hairpins in NYC back in 2005. My friend ADi very kindly obliged to be the model for this shot whilst working in her studio. This was one of the first pictures that I took to set up and make my website.............

Friday 29th February: Its all about outsized bags

I discovered on the hintmag.com blog that the set design from the Chanel show featured oversized accessories (this photo is from the original post shot by Rachel de Joode). I spent January making a giant Chanel bag myself, to submit for the showstudio.com political fashion project. Brick Lane and the surrounding area (e.g Spitafields, Great Eastern Street) seems to be undergoing a rapid regeneration and becoming unrecognisable. It looks like all the predictable culprits are moving in which is a shame. But at least the area is still a living gallery for street art.............here are some new pieces I haven't noticed before.............

Fri 22nd February: Gothic

The private view for Gothic at the Fieldgate Gallery which is around the corner from Atlantis art supplies in Whitechapel. Although I am inherently offended and opposed to all things gothic..........I did actually really like this exhibition. Its a great new space to show contemporary art and this is a nicely balanced collection of photography, painting, sculpture, film and installation. There is a contrast in scale from the giant billboard size print "Children of the Gods" by Matthew Stone to the miniture insect sculpture of "The Resurrection of the Rat" by Tessa Farmer (which you have to get so close to see, you have to watch that you dont accidentally inhale the beasties up your nose!).

Thurs 21 Feb: NOKI Graffitti update

Holly spotted this latest installment in the NOKI graffiti trail. The last entry was from the toilet of the George and Dragon and this new sighting was just off Hoxton Street. Ive included a picture of NOKI's own pair of his Kicker's collaboration design which have not escaped the grid embellishment of his prolific marker pen..............

Weds 20th Feb: The Brits

The freaks were out last night. 10 of us were hired to dance on stage at the Brit Awards after show party during Matthew Stone's set. The-O, Chycca and Scotte all had outfit changes which was great fun to witness in our dressing room. Scottee's makeup box was a picnic hamper! The lashings of red glitter was echoed in the jewell encrusted scarlet telephone box in the party. The lit dancefloor was a flashing chess board and the rest of the venue was decorated with graffitti covered caravans.

Tues 19th: At home Part II

I then bumped into Bethan Wood whilst actually buying wood in Leylands. Bethan's home is decorated in a collection of everything I dream about and more. Wow wee. If our two worlds collided it would be quite something! Rubixcube takeover.

Destiny brought me a day of enjoying tea and conversation at different creative ladies dwellings whilst in Hackney. I firstly visited Paloma Faith who greeted me wearing an oversized red bow tie and served me a red polkadot mug . Then onto Amy Gwatkin in a pom pom necklace, who served me a cup with a picture of her Granmother's dog dressed up in hat and sunglasses. Here are pictures of Amy's home that is a visual overload of collected prints, postcards and Helmut Newton posters. Not to mention her exploding wardrobe of vintage treats which she layers by picking individual pieces each time she passes.

Monday 18th Feb: New Star Ceiling

Our studio ceiling has been naked since we took down the stars for Patrick's set at Shepherd's Bush Empire. Today the next chapter has been resolved and installed. Andy and Maki put up the left over night sky backdrop from Peter Jensen's show. I blogged a picture of this on hintmag.com as a start to an ongoing contribution to the site.................so I will notify here when I send my monthly submissions.

16th Feb: Paloma Faith

This stunning dress was designed by Petra Storrs. The expanse of reflective metal set off Paloma's performance with a large helium baloon and mirror ball makeup. Check out an even more stunning piece on video that the pair worked on in the link below.................

Sat 16th Feb: Nova Dando

"The Disco Collection" by Nova Dando. Nova also trained in knitwear but creates costumes within the music industry which you would recognise from Lou Hayter & New Young Pony Club, M.I.A, CSS's Lovefoxxx.

Sat 16th Feb: Liria Pristine

"Feb 16" is the name of an event that follows the knitwear presentation I went to in November, aptly named "Nov 27". This time the show took place in the Parlour at Sketch with the models walking through the crowd interspersed with music performances. Here are a couple of looks from the debut collection of Liria Pristine. She has collaborated with Rosie Kent to enhance her knitwear with jewellery, seen here on the top modelled by Jeanette.

Fri 15th Feb: Circus

There was a queue all the way up Wardour street to get into the Soho Revue Bar for Circus. Here is the host Jodie Harsh wearing a top by the embroiderer extraordinare Scott Ramsay Kyle, who I always like to champion . The door is manned by Alexis Knoxx who is the fashion editor of Notion Magazine (seen here in a look that the Met should surely employ?!). Fri 15th Feb: G&T on Saville Row

K A B I R invited me to the preview of Katie Hillier's collaboration on accessories for Saville Row tailor Norton & Sons. Held in the eclectically decorated store complete with 2 gigantic taxidermy Gazelle heads on the walls. Fri 15th Feb: Nuts in May

Andy Hillman's set for Peter Jensens runway show at Conway Hall inspired by Mike Leigh's film "Nuts in May". Here is Maki Lou Lou hiding in one of the tents that she and Hanna Wood made along with a gigantic night sky backdrop. These are 2 of my favourite looks of the show: a rainbow jumper and a silver skirt that looked like it may have been made from foil survival blankets. The models dissapeared off stage by ducking and going through the left tent. Peter made his curtain call by cheekily darting out of the other tent, bouncing up and down, and then scurrying back inside.

Thurs 14th Feb: Hartnett - 76 > Now

An exhibition of MUST -SEE photographs has opened at the Vibe Bar on Brick Lane. Paul Hartnett has documented the facinating "looks" of subculture over the last 20 years. There are portraits of Leigh Bowery and the Taboo regulars which I have never seen before so it was a real treat! It seems a timely retrospective as London is regenerating a similar genre after a baron period during the regrettable dull 90's. At the private view The-O and Chycca gave a performance which left a magic mess/installation of flour and glitter which you can see here..................

Weds13th: NHS at Fashion East

Here is JJ Hudson, the designer behind NHS formerly known as NOKI. My friend Kim Howells styled his show this season and asked me to make a logo to have at the end of this massive Truman Brewery runway. We also made some fortune tellers out of ES posters to put with the goody bags. I have included a picture to show the amazing gravity defying hair by Peter Gray which reminded me of Narwhal whales (thanks to Malcom Pate for the picture!).

Tues 12th Feb: Yesterday's Rubbish

I love the new London Fashion Week daily that started last season "The Daily Rubbish". So I was pleasantly surprised to discover myself in it yesterdays edition...............however, not quite so pleased that I seem to have been carefully obscured with this post-it credit.........thanks Rubbish!

Monday 11th Feb: Peekabo & Popcorn

I quickly ran down to the tents for Eley Kishimoto's "Bonnie Bunny" show today. It was a relief to see the colour palette of this show, as it has affirmed that I am on the right track with my accessories. I loved the prints that they are famous for and also some notable nifty knits........one cardigan had a pair of adorable Ostrich's on the front. The styling was strong with a 60's edge.........every girl had a fiercely blunt cut fringe..........which I thought was incredible casting until I realised they were clipped on! The musical selction was a joy including the hits in this post's title and ending with my favourite theme tune ........1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12............the pin ball animation track from Sesame Street.
