Tuesday 9th July: Glastonbury Festival

For the past few years I have gone to Glastonbury Festival with the NYC Downlow and worked on the door of their after-hours nightclub in Block 9.  This year however I went with Anna from Patternity to DJ on the closing night at the backstage bar of the Park stage.  Here we are as a colourful and monochromatic duo and the balloon decorated stage by Kirsti International who had scheduled a night of back2back dj's (Queen's of Noise seen here).  It was the most exquisite beautiful weather this year which couldn't have been better - we were so, so lucky.  My VW camper van was also very happy to make his annual pilgrimage from Essex to Shepton Mallet! Here are various photos I took to capture some of the colour from rainbow flags to T.E.E.D's iridescent mac!  Stephanie Sian Smith was also around snapping festival styles for both i-D and Elle  and Dan Wilton for Kirsti.  So many cosmic sights and sounds - the best weekend of the year (aside from Carnival!).

Mon 8th July: MAC ROCKS

Straight after having my hair coloured by Fudge at their HQ in Covent Garden, I went down the road to DJ at MAC's latest Pro store for the launch of their new line MAC "Rocks" .  Here I had my eyes coloured by Debbie Finnegan whilst the other performers Bourgeois & Maurice had their faces painted by Andrew Gallimore.  Here you can see Andrew in his leopard cap, fellow CLM artist Lyndell Mansfield who came to visit and Rosy Nicholas who helped me out in the record selecting!  I have to confess that Debbie did such an amazing job on giving me Cleopatra eyes that I kept the false eye-lashes and liner on to go to Glastonbury!  So lucky to have professional cosmic hair AND makeup to go and DJ at the festival!

Mon 8th July: Fudge Paintbox Colour

From going backstage at Christopher Shannon's show at LCM and meeting his sponsor for that incredible glittery hair, I got invited into FUDGE HQ to meet their Global Head of Colour Tracy Hayes.  Tracy uses the range of Fudge Paintbox Colour  to create these catwalk looks and personal styles for colourful  characters such as Julie Verhoeven and Molly Parkin. I visited a few days ahead of Glastonbury so we came up with a festival inspired look of a candyfloss pastel hue spectrum. This was achieved by diluting the pigments with the violet mixer "Whiter Shade Of Pale" which you can also use to give bleached hair a blue rinse to eradicate yellow tones.  Really easy to apply by brushing on and great fun!!! I think I might get back to my teenage penchant for rainbow hair!! AND a permanent cosmic sheen of glitter using the silver sparkle spray.

Thursday 4th July: LCM: Tom Ryling 'KID AIN'T CRAZY; HE'S A PROPHET' S/S14

To tie up the end of my reporting from LCM - here is Tom Ryling's show, presented as part of Fashion East Installations. This exhibition format and event was the perfect place for Tom to show his collage backdrop and conceptual collection, as he comes from a fine art background. He used the space as a work of art in itself to contextualise the unusual mix of innovative textiles, old denim and heritage fabrics. He created something truly personal, taking patterns and pieces from his own adolescent wardrobe and immersed the viewer into his world.   Stylist Kim Howells contributed to conjuring up this concoction with casting the vision and editing the mix of layers of hand-painted, hessian and plastic garments.  

Whilst Tom was busy pinning and sewing in his own studio, he was also cutting and pasting posts over on LOVE's blog as he is now the online editor of the magazine at the helm of content which is currently on a guest takeover term............ check it out here.
