Thursday 12th June: #NIKELAB London Launch

Back from Bridge the Gap in NYC to London and straight into another NIKE event!  Last evening was the international launch for NIKE LAB with FKA TWIGS playing the UK and Kelela in Paris.  Here is a photo of her beautiful self in a Cotwelier see-thru tracksuit in amongst the cardboard hexagonal art direction (by Marcus Sharp and Sam Ludgate) which displayed the recent history of collaborations from Cassette Playa to Gyakusou.  I also snapped the crepes on Kish Kash as a barometer of whats the latest style to be sporting this Summer!

Weds 11th June: NYC round up

To conclude my NYC adventures here is a compilation of moments including Evan Robarts at The Hole Gallery, Camille Henrot at The New Museum, MoMA, Lynn Dell's "Off Broadway", Sean Lennon & with BISHI at a Sean Lennon's GOASTT gig at Bowery Ballroom, A1 Records, Seye at BBar & Grill, Damon Albarn and The Heavy Seas at The Govnors Ball, Three AsFOUR and the Empire State Building lit for Ocean Day which exactly matched my hair colour gradient!

Tues 10th June: NYC - "CITY AS CANVAS" at Museum of the City of New York

Wherever I go on travels, I like to hunt out an original Keith Haring, and as this trip took me to where it all began - it was to be a sure thing!!   Now on at Museum of the City of New York, is the 1st exhibition of street art collected by Martin Wong, who was an East Village artist that amassed a treasure trove of hundreds of works on paper and canvas in aerosol and ink. The names exhibited including Keith Haring are Lee Quiñones, LADY PINK, and FUTURA 2000 - all seminal figures in a movement that spawned a worldwide phenomenon, altering music, fashion, and popular visual culture. The exhibition City as Canvas: Graffiti Art from the Martin Wong Collection includes over 150 pieces along with photographs of the time........... here are just a few that I snapped .............. top six being Keith  

Weds 4th June: NYC Day 2 - #BTGNYC "Can You Dig It" Part 2

The first event of the BridgeRunners  #BridgeTheGap week of activities was an introduction into urban running in their home city with a 5 Mile route which was the first they ever took when forming.  This involved following a pied-piper style soundstystem on a push bike, holding traffic and storming the streets running thru red lights, going over the Brooklyn Bridge to Biggie Smalls neighbourhood and back over Williamsburg bridge.  What started off in the daylight, ended in nightfall and returning across the river to a lit-up city scape of Manhattan's Lower East Side.  We were then treated to local Italian pasta and a potted history of how the area has changed since founder Mike Saes grew up in the community.  This was a real first experience for me and one I'll never forget - running in the warm June night thru all the Chinatown lanes I have nostalgic attachments to and then crossing the water, snaking our way along the wooden boarded bridges to a Brooklyn I've never witnessed before.  From Hong Kong to Amsterdam we all united in sweating our souls out and have been reborn, brand new for the next day of #crewlove to ensue....................
