Saturday 4th November: Hattie Stewart at KKOutlet

KKOutlet opened it's doors for "First Thursday's" this month with illustrator Hattie Stewart to coincide with the launch of her sticker book Doodlebomb.  Free stickers and posters were plentiful to pick up in addition to her books in the shop including her other title "Living With: Hattie Stewart".  The solo show presents new material alongside the lenticular and hologram artworks which I featured from her previous show "Dollhouse" and her residency at Firstsite.  See archive posts here and here.

Thursday 27th July: Lakwena's "The Future's Gold" at KKOutlet, Part 2

I missed the private view for Lakwena's show but have now visited and its truly AMAZING.  She has painted every piece of wall on the premises and covered the floor in gold to match the foil in the prints.  You can take a piece of the exhibition home with you in the form of patches and pins with the same messages and anecdotes as the canvases.  I couldn't resist a rainbow one for my coat of many colourful patches which bares the irresistable sentiment "The Best Is Yet To Come"!  Indeed it is, Lakwena just gets better and better............ I can't wait to see what she has lined up next!

Thursday 13th July: Lakwena's "The Future's Gold" at KKOutlet

Thanks to Magda Kagwa for these photos from Lakwena's preview at KKOutlet for her new show "The Future's Gold". I CANNOT wait to get there myself to see the joyous work that connects the floor to the walls and the list of works displayed.

It's full circle with my book that is stocked in their shop and features the gallery, whilst the cover is shot infront of Lakwena's mural at FRAME around the corner!  Totally cosmic!!

Monday 10th April: CAMPBELL ADDY at KKOutlet

I was really pleased to see KKOutlet give Campbell Addy a solo show last month.  I've been following his prolific output since his student times when I was teaching at UAL.  Now he's a bonafide force gathering momentum and going mainstream with the recent listing in the Dazed100.  Head over to the shortlist to help vote him up to the top!   Follow his magazine here and model agency here.

Tuesday 1st Nov: "Fridges Fight Back" by Bompas & Parr at KK Outlet

"Fridges Fight Back: a Chilling Exhibition" curated by the British Museum of Food (Bompas & Parr ) examines the sinister side of fridges from the bacteria inside to the fires caused by faulty mechanics.  The show in partnership with the British Fire Brigade is now on at  KK Outlet with an accompanying booklet,"Fridges Fight Back: The White Goods are Restless".  Here are a few shots from the private view which had a bar of Yakult and Yazoo, hosted by Sam Bompas in Moschino trousers and chip print shirt!  See more of thier genius jellies and more on Instagram here.

Monday 7th Sept: Anna Lomax "Luxury Goods" at KKOutlet

For the Fashion Week and Design Week month of September, Anna Lomax has a solo show at KKOutlet which opened to coincide with "First Thursday" last week.  Entitled "Luxury Goods" it's a combination of all of her favourite influences and collections from pound shops, kitsch conspicuous consumption and the love of her hometown London.  The narrative that ties the mixed media work is a visual commentary on the meaning of "Luxury" and genuine fakes which carries thru to the Sportsbanger merch in her curated gift shop. The pieces comprise of sculpture, neon light, lenticular hologram, screen print, photography, embroidered textiles and jewellery with her classic £1 coin sovereign ring.  Even the drinks at the party were a work of art in themselves as each vessel was a carved mini water-melon.  I didn't know that such a cute fruit existed so with the addition of a novelty hand-carved emblem, it was the best cocktail I've ever held............ and couldn't put down.............. grasping onto the last taste of Carnival
