Wednesday 25th October: San Francisco Murals & Street Art

I have just returned from a week in San Francisco where I encountered so much colour, every day was a joy.  Just walking around the city was enough entertainment before I even stepped foot in a gallery.  Here are my favourite snaps including the spectrum street crossing of The Castro, a Felipe Pantone wall mural on the way to China Town, some steps and shop-fronts in Haight Ashbury and the rest are probably from the Mission District famous for its painted buildings and alleys of street-art.

Wednesday 23rd August: Craig & Karl's Petrol Station installation

To complete my street-art tour of London's graphic & optical murals, I visited White City where the artists Craig and Karl have brought colour to a derelict petrol Station on Wood Lane.  The pastel pink roof should be replicated in all petrol stations in my opinion!  Obviously its my dream scenario for an instagram-friendly fuel stop!  I spent ages snapping all the different angles of this public artwork in West London.  It's totally magic and I'd love to see more commissions like this over the city!

Tuesday 17th May: Camille Walala at Firstsite

If you look at the tiny black silhouette of a person's outline under the enormity of the wall here, you can get a grasp of the scale of the architecture of Firstsite.  The gigantic slanting interior wall has been covered in Camille Walala's op-art interpretation of pop-art for the current show at Colchester's contemporary gallery.  The palette picks up on the pink and yellow of Warhol's prints and the pattern mimics his use of drop shadow and the half-tone dots from the screen-printing process.  Not only has she covered this epic surface but also decorated the front-desk and tables of the cafe for a complete Walala take-over.
Follow Camille's Instagram to see more from the project.

Tuesday 10th May: Lakwena on Carnaby Street

News in my regular Lakwena updates .......... the latest wall from my favourite graphic artist has cropped up on Carnaby Street, right behind Liberty.  Here it is fresh the day after she had made the finishing touches before the district's GQ style night with GQ.

Weds 13th April: Lakwena's "Up In The Air" at Box Park

Lakwena's latest large-scale sign-writing venture stretches down the gallery walls of BoxPark and her very own pop-up space within the complex of containers.  She is in residence for the month of April so you can meet the artist when you visit to see her silver lined shop.   Break thru the tinsel banner entrance to discover her new world and pick up memento merch with her hand-tinted gradient incense burner.
