Friday 15th Feb: New Unicorn Hair by Tracy Hayes and Charz Couture

Tuesday 12th June: "Colour Transfer" by Liz West

Chasing rainbows on my Canyon Roadlite and finding “Colour Transfer” by Liz West for British Land at Paddington Basin.  Thanks to Rhian Mclaren for the location inspiration!  This is such a cosmic discovery to come across whilst winding your way along the canal tow path.  Infact, probably the best new piece of public art in London right now!  It nestles perfectly in this hidden pocket of a Brutalist style concrete bridge.  The spectrum of metallic angular facets creates an optical illusion as you pass.  It's like the inside of a kaleidoscope for all to see and enjoy.  There are even two adjacent public ping pong tables for the best backdrop to a game of alfresco table tennis this Summer! 

I have also included here snaps of the Sir Peter Blake pattern painted barge at Paddington to make sure that you see both when you visit.

Wednesday 1st Nov: SUPERFLEX'S ONE TWO THREE SWING!

Danish artist's collective Superflex have filled the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern with swings made of seats for 3 people.  Kitty, Fatima and I went down to have a go and of course see the spectrum flooring which covers the great expanse of the the old power station.  It's not evident that the carpet has any seams so it appears all one piece.  Incredible!  Turns out that it perfectly matches our current hair colours with pink and violet............... serendipity...........

Saturday 28th October: Rainbow Cake

Whilst in San Francisco I made a spectrum cake to look like the Apple Mac "spinning wheel of doom" icon with a rainbow of layers in the same colours as their logo.  It took an evening of mixing and individually baking each sponge and then a morning of mixing and spreading icing to build the tower block!  Here are all the stages and the final assembly with icing on the whole exterior and sugar crystals to make the wheel pattern.

My blog has just hit it's 10th birthday so I'll dedicate this entry to such an auspicious anniversary!

Find the recipe I followed for quantities and method here.................. albeit without the pink layer because there's no pink in the Apple logo.  Thank God because I don't think it could have got any higher!

Thursday 10th November: Raw Magic Pop Up Italian Dinner Party at Zandra Rhodes rainbow penthouse

As Zandra Rhodes lives inbetween San Diego and London, she likes to have dinner parties when she is back in town to catch up with her friends.  Usually she cooks a big salmon but on this occasion the kitchen was out of bounds as Kate Magic took over the tools for the night.  Kate's raw food empire was introduced to us via an Italian vegan meal which was top secret until the very end when she explained each ingredient.  To start was a heart shape noodle (kelp) Sauerkraut Carbonara, followed by Lasanyea (courgette, pesto & sun-dried tomato ragu) & Seasonal babyleaf salad (sprouts & microgreens) ending on a Chocolate Torte (almond & ginger base), with a digestif of medicinal mushroom tea and After-dinner Matcha Mint.  

Ooooooooooooof.  It was all so tasty, especially the pudding which was made with dates which is one of my favourite things - see the Z for Zandra on the top.  Check out her site to see more and keep a look out in health food shops for her products with the swirl logo.  Follow her Instagram to find out about her retreats, workshops, recipes, music .......

Thursday 6th October: Stockholm Modern Art Museum

A trip to Stockholm and the INCREDIBLE Modern Art Museum which has a garden with Alexander Calder kinetic sculptures and Yayoi Kusama trees, an exclusive installation of Olafur Eliasson maquettes, a retrospective of Moki Cherry (Neneh Cherry's father) and an absolutely excellent permanent collection - I was in heaven!  I also jumped for joy when I found this rainbow painted subway station on the way!!!!  If you have the chance to visit the city I highly recommend a trip to this brilliant gallery!
