After a couple of years since devising Survival Techniques and covering walls of London with inspirational motto murals, Naomi Edmondson now has a solo show at Atom Gallery in Green Lanes. The gallery is situated above a screen-printing studio where you can view her prints being made ready for the limited edition run in conjunction with the show. Out the back, she has painted a brand new commission on the side of their exposure unit which you can see in this portrait of the artist at her private view!
Her archive of works are hung gloriously in one complete story alongside a London map pin-pointing the locations of her large scale street-art. There is even a suggestion box to add your own Survival Technique to her bank of memos to be used in the future. If you'd like a hands-on experience painting with Naomi, check out her Cass Arts workshop here.
The latest slice of sunshine positivity from Survival Techniques is for the side of Tina We Salute You cafe in Dalston. Follow Naomi's exploits over on her Instagram and if you see a message that you'd like for your own wall, order a print from her online gallery here!

Each year RunDemCrew set up a cheering station at Mile21 to help all the runners make it thru the final hurdle of the London Marathon. They arrive in the early hours to set up before the roads close and stay until the very last runner has been past. Inbetween they let off confetti canons, clap and shout motivational words of encouragement to both the elites who speed thru at 4-minute-miles, and their own crew members doing it for charity. Here are my snaps from Naomi Edmondson's street art project "Survival Techniques" as she sprayed the road with her pattern stencils. In addition to this, posters where flyered up along the 26 miles of the course and runners faces were immortalised as large lolipop sticks......... including Danny Wood who ran as a panda-bear for WWF!
The crew will be out in force again this weekend, repeating antics for the Hackney Half marathon in their very own stomping-ground streets of East London. Follow the cheer here.
Naomi Edmondson's latest mural for "Survival Techniques" can be found in Camden Town as part of Global Street Art's Walls Project initiative. Here are some work-in-progress snaps of the layers to her hand-painted typography. Each wall carries a motivational message to promote and encourage positive thinking to uplift our urban surroundings. Naomi gathers sentiments as submissions of personal stories that have helped people over-come difficult times. By sharing these antidotes to passers by on the streets she is planning to paint more and more colour therapy across the city.
Follow her mission and submit here.
Happy Birthday Naomi (Survival Techniques) - I took my spectrum baking to another level with making it into ice-cream cones! It worked!
