Sunday 19th November: Yukai Du at Atom Gallery

Yukai Du's personal work is now on view at Atom Gallery in her solo show "Time Off"  combining painting, prints and a screen of moving-image animation.  It's a chance to explore what an artist gets up to in her spare time, allowing her imagination to have full reign without restriction from commission.  Stills have been taken from a GIFF and printed as a full series to see the amount of work that goes into each frame of a video.  For example here you can see an image of a reservoir where the banks of the structure are made from hands which is the running theme throughout the narrative.

Yukai's show is open till 26th November with prints and books for sale alongside the gallery's shop from previous exhibitions.

Thursday 25th May: "The Selby House" at The Daelim Museum, Seoul

Here are images sent to me by The Selby who currently has his first solo show in Seoul, Korea at Daelim Museum until October.  Within the four floors of galleries is a photography exhibition from his book "Fashionable Selby" which includes a wall of images from my piece in the story!  I'm so chuffed to be included in the showcase and pleased to be situated alongside fellow colour lover Andrew Logan.  It's an absolutely brilliant book documenting international artists within their creative spaces and makes perfect sense to now be on view at a new city such as Seoul!  If only I could see it in person but luckily we have these shots as a glimpse at the display and exterior of the museum covered in his illustrations.  The range of sculptures, dioramas and installations look awesome so visit if you can!

Tuesday 26th April: 3rd Rail at PickMeUp, Somerset House

As part this year's PickMeUp's "Collective" series are 3rd Rail screen-printers.  Not only can you buy straight off their actual rail, but also have a go yourself with ink and squidgey to print your own tote bag.  Amongst the artist's prints, t-shirts, sweatshirts and finger puppets on show are names such as MalarkoLynnie Zulu and Hattie Stewart.  I'm particularly in love with the 10 colour hand-printed Mr.Penfold t-shirt!  Dreamy!!!

Thursday 17th March: Stephen Doherty at The Hackney Shop

Stephen Doherty has taken residency at The Hackney Shop for a week's live studio and gallery of previous work.  Life-studies in charcoal hang alongside pastel drawings and water-colour florals with some turned into screen-prints.  These have been framed and others embroidered as textile reliefs into garmerts, displayed on rails he has installed amongst 2D canvases.  I love both his loose illustrative flow of drawn line in the portraits and the deep wash and scratches in brush strokes of petals.  The bleeding pigment is almost abstract to the human eye but ends up looking photo-real when captured here!  Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

All drawings and prints are available to purchase and garments available to order, prices starting at £35.00. .............. or just pop in for a cup of tea with the artist himself.

The shop will be open from Thursday 17th – Sunday 20th March
10am - 6pm.

Tues 28th July: "Commute Nice London" at KKOutlet

In the month of the Tour De France, The London Free Cycle and my own Rapha Womens 100 challenge, KKOutlet's exhibition is called "Commute Nice London".  The group show of posters is a message for cyclists and drivers to come together to make London's roads a safer and happier place.  Each artist has turned a slogan into an illustrated print in their own distinctive style of which some have been made into stickers to decorate your bike.........or lamp posts to share the love.  Get involved, get driving and get peddling our city into a harmonious future.

( Artists top to bottom:  Me, Saskia Pomeroy, Yoko Honda, Steven Wilson, Super Mundane, Chrissie Abbott, Dorothy, Alex May Hughes, Hattie Stewart, Paul Patemen, Anthony Burrill, Craig & Karl, Ornamental Conifer, Annu Kilpelainen,  and stickers of Luke Miller, Crispin Fin, & Steven Willson)

There is still time to sign up for guided free cycles across London this weekend here.

Friday 29th May: Air Fresheners Of The Apocalypse

Re-think the Magic Tree!  Beach Gallery have teamed up with Bompas & Parr for an exhibition of scented Air Fresheners illustrated by 10 talents including Jim Stoten, Rob Flowers and Marcus Oakley whose spectrum I snapped here.   Last evening's private view also had a lucky-dip grunge-tank for the complete Apocalyptic experience.  Dig Deep!

Weds 27th May: Monki X Lynnie Zulu - Work In Progress

Here are some Work In Progress / Behind The Scenes snaps that Lynnie Zulu has sent over of her sketchbook and studio.  You can see how her archive of illustrations have informed the repeat patterns that became the prints for the MONKI collection.  Her signature watermelon emblem has become the main theme of the artwork tying together the accessories to garments.  It's kind of Josephine Baker meets Carmen Miranda for a 21st Century cosmopolitan roof top, swimming-pool disco!!!
